考点2  考查名词的可数性与不定冠词的有无

英语的名词根据其可数性分可以为可数名词和不可数名词，其中的可数名词可以与不定冠词连用，而不可数名词则不可以与不定冠词连用；可数名词可以有复数形式，而不可数名词则没有复数形式。经常出现在这类考点中的不可数名词有advice(忠告)，fortune (运气)，information (情报)，news(新闻)，fun(娱乐)，behavior (行为)，homework (家庭作业)，luck (运气)，weather(天气)，work (工作)，harm (伤害)，damage (损害)，progress(进步)，moonlight(月光)，sunshine(阳光)等。

【考例】In yesterday’s report, our headmaster gave us ________ on how to protect ourselves. (湖南怀化中考题)

A. some advice   B. an advice         C. many advices (www.hxen.com)

【分析】A。由于advice（建议）为不可数名词，故不能与不定冠词连用，也不能用复数形式，故可排除B和C。

考点3  考查可数与不可数名词修饰语

可数和不可数名词修饰语问题是中考英语的一个重要考点，主要涉及以下几个方面：

1. 通常只用于修饰可数名词的修饰语有a few, few, several, many, a great many, a (great) number of等，并且受这些修饰语修饰的可数名词要用复数形式。

2. 通常只用于修饰不可数名词的修饰语有a little, little, much, a great deal of等。

3. 既可修饰可数名词也可修饰不可数名词的修饰语有some, any, a lot of, lots of, plenty of, enough等。

【考例1】—I’d like ________ grapes and pears.

—Oh, I only need ________ orange juice. (湖北恩施中考题)

A. some; a few    B. a few; some     C. a little; few        D. a little; a few

【分析】B。第一空后的grapes and pears（葡萄和梨子）为复数可数名词，不能用a little修饰，故可排除C和D；而第二空后的orange juice（橘子汁）为不可数名词，不能用a few修饰，故可排除A。

【考例2】The letter from my uncle was short. There wasn’t ________ news. (广州中考题)

A. many                B. a few                 C. much                D. few

【分析】C。由于news为不可数名词，故只能用much修饰，其他三个都只能修饰可数名词。

考点4  考查不可数名词前单位词的使用

由于不可数名词不能用one, two, three, four之类的数词修饰，所以要表示它们的具体数量我们就得另外想办法，其中最通常的方法就是借用含有piece的短语表示。

piece的意思是“块”“张”“条”“件”等，具体意思通常应根据汉语的搭配习惯而定，其后既可接bread, chalk, paper, meat, rock, wood, glass, coal等非液体性的物质名词，也可接news, advice, work, information, music等抽象名词。如：

Let me give you a piece of advice. 让我来给你出个主意。

Put one piece of cake on each plate. 每只盘子上放一块蛋糕。

Write your name on a piece of paper. 他把名字写在一张小纸片上。

要表示复数意义，应将piece改为复数。如：

Glue the two pieces of wood together. 把两块木头粘在一起。

注意，当a piece of所修饰的不可数名词需要带形容词修饰语时，该形容词通常应置于piece之前，而不是置于它所修饰的名词之前。如：

I have an amusing piece of news to tell you. 我有一条很有趣的消息告诉你。

【考例】Mr Smith always has ________ to tell us. (山东青岛)

A. some good pieces of news          B. some pieces of good news

C. some good piece of newes         D. some piece of good newes

【分析】答案为A。由于选项C和D将news误拼作newes（英语中不存此词），故可将答案锁定在A和B。根据英语习惯，修饰a piece of…的形容词通常应放在piece之前，而不是其后的名词之前，故可确定答案为A。
