[00:07.18]   Uargie kept her diary almost every day.
[00:11.94]One day she wrote,"17 May,2155"
[00:19.51]and then this sentence:"Today Tommy found a real book."
[00:26.17]   It was a very old book.
[00:29.52]Its pages were yellow.
[00:32.76]Margie suddenly remembered that her grandfather once said
[00:38.50]that centuries ago all stories were printed on paper.
[00:43.96]This must be a book of that time.
[00:48.04]   Tommy and Margie were anxious to read the book.
[00:52.58]They turned the pages.
[00:55.85]It was very funny.
[00:59.09]The words stood still,and didn't move as they did on a TV.
[01:05.44]And then,when they turned back,the same words were there!
[01:11.18]  "Oh," said Tommy,"What a waste!
[01:15.34]When you finish reading the book,you just throw it away.
[01:20.48]You can have a million books on our television,and even more.
[01:25.84]There is nothing to throw away."
[01:29.60]   Tommy and Margie were both thirteen.
[01:33.99]They had read a lot.
[01:37.33]Whenever they wanted to read,the books appeared on the TV.
[01:43.21]They had never turned a page like they were doing now.
[01:48.07]   "What's it about?" Margie asked.   "School."
[01:53.03]   Margie didn't like the idea.
[01:56.69]"School? All those lessons:chemistry physics,arithmetic!
[02:05.23]What can be interesting about school?"
[02:09.07]She hated school.Her school was a room next to her bedroom.
[02:16.02]There was a machine with a big TV set on it.
[02:21.06]The big TV showed her lessons,
[02:25.21]asked her questions and gave her exercises and examination papers.
[02:32.48]"Why did they write about school?"
[02:36.24]  "It's not our kind of school."Tommy answered.
[02:40.78]"This is the old kind of school hundreds of years ago.
[02:46.24]They had teachers.All were people."
[02:51.00]  "Really?How could that be?
[02:55.26]And I don't think it's pleasant to have a stranger in my house to teach me."
[03:01.00]   Tommy laughed."You don't know much,Margie.
[03:06.28]The teachers didn't live in the house.
[03:10.43]They had a special building and all the pupils went there."
[03:15.40]  "And all the pupils learned the same thing?"
[03:19.76]  "Of course,if they were the same age,the book says."
[03:24.83]  At that moment,the machine in the next room called,"Margie!School!"
[03:31.67]   Margie went into her schoolroom.
[03:35.43]The TV was on and waiting for her.
[03:39.69]It was always on at the same time every day except Saturday and Sunday.
[03:46.35]  The Tv announced,"Today's arithmetic lesson..."
[03:51.81]  Margie looked at the TV.
[03:55.47]But she was thinking about the old school.
[03:59.83]All the pupils from the neighbourhood came.
[04:03.91]They laughed,and shouted when they played ball games in the schoolyard or at the stadium.
[04:10.88]They sat together in the classroom,went home together at te end of the day.
[04:17.12]They learned the same things,
[04:20.88]so they could help one another with their homework and talk about it.
[04:26.24]And the teachers were people....Oh,what fun they had!
