The China-Eurasia Expo opens today in Urumqi, the capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The theme is "Building the Silk Road Economic Belt Through Opening-Up and Cooperation."
Sixty countries and regions from the world’s six continents have confirmed their attendance, together with four international organizations.
Vice Premier Wang Yang will attend the opening ceremony. The six-day event, in its fourth edition, aims to facilitate economic and technical cooperation among countries along the ancient Silk Road trade route.
Officials say ten major forums and exchange activities are scheduled. Topics include economic development and cooperation, and news media.
