China has called for a ceasefire without any conditions attached regarding the strikes in Gaza. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made these remarks while meeting with his Canadian counterpart in China. Wang said that all air strikes, military operations and rockets should stop immediately.
Wang also condemned the large number of civilian casualties due to military actions. He stressed that China is willing to do anything that might help the two sides reach a ceasefire agreement.
Earlier this month, China’s Middle East special envoy visited the conflict zone twice with the intention of assisting mediation efforts. Wang said that China will continue such efforts.
