Amazon has unveiled its first ever smartphone. The new device, called 'Fire,' comes has a 3D-capable screen and an ability to shift perspective depending on how the user tilts the screen. It can also recognize music and TV shows.
Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos revealed the phone’s special features during a rare media appearance in Seattle. He demonstrated the three-dimensional display features on the the nearly 12-centimeter device, including depth perception for maps and pictures. The smartphone represents the online retail giant’s attempt to extend its dominance from e-commerce into mobile phones.
Prices in the United States will start at US$200 for a 32-gigabyte version. Amazon shares climbed 2.5 percent in afternoon trading following the unveiling.
