In Shanghai, adventure will meet luxury at a five-star hotel which is currently being built in a massive pit. It’s being promoted as the lowest hotel in the world. Construction has now begun, and it is expected to completed in 2015.
Building down instead of up.
Work has begun on an 80-meter-deep pit in the suburbs of Shanghai to turn futuristic into reality.
The hotel will be the first of its kind in the world, and many innovative construction ideas are being used. For example, the artificial waterfall and lake will connect with a nearby river to keep the water clear and act as as reservoir in case of fire. The planners are working with the top design team behind the world’s only 7-Star hotel in Dubai, but they insist more Chinese traditional elements will be reflected in its decor.
The hotel planner says it believes in full harmony with the natural ecology. Needless to say this hotel has attracted the eyes of the world and will soon to become Shanghai’s next business card.
