The world’s aircraft makers are reviving their pledge to keep the sky blue. Clean biofuel seems to be winning favor at the ongoing Paris Air Show.

Many exhibitors are showcasing their latest products such as clean fuel made of weeds, corns and beans. These new sources are helping to fill the shortage of traditional sources for biofuel, such as algae.

The independent coalition Air Transport Action Group predicts that the proportion of biofuel with respect to its usage as jet fuel will reach 1 percent in the industry by 2015, and jump to 15 percent by 2020. The European Union has started to collect an airline carbon tax since 2012 - a move which has encouraged the development of biofuel in the airline sector. Airbus says around 50 percent of its airlines are adopting biofuel and it pledges to realize 100 percent usage of biofuel in the future.
