Due to a series of measures, unveiled earlier this year, to ease traffic in Beijing, the cost of travelling by privately owned vehicles is rising rapidly. The price hike is making many choose to travel by bicycle instead. Our reporter Li Wanmei looks at the increase of bike sales - and cyclists - in the capital.
由于今年公布的一系列措施来减轻北京的交通压力，自驾车出游的费用快速上升。物价上涨使得人们选择骑自行车。我们的记者Li Wanmei观察到，首都的自行车销售和骑自行车的人不断增加。
Thanks to the latest efforts to tackle the gridlock in Beijing, like the license-plate lottery system and increased parking fees, many people are now travelling by bike.
由于北京为解决交通阻塞做出的最新努力，如车牌摇号方式和提高停车费用，如今很多人都改骑自行车。
Beijing resident said "Nowadays, I go to work by bike, because travelling by private car costs a lot. Oil prices are rising and parking fees are very high. What’s more, there’s traffic restrictions on the date a car can travel on the roads. So I think travelling by bike is more convenient and environmentally friendly."
北京居民说：“现在我骑自行车去上班，因为开私家车花费太大。油价上涨，停车费用也很高。所以我觉得骑自行车比较方便和环保。”
With more budding cyclists on the roads, there has been a boost in bike sales over the past few months.
随着越来越多骑自行车的人出现在马路上，促进过去几个月自行车的销售额。
Bicycle seller in Beijing said "According to the records in our sales spots, sales this year are very satisfying. To be specific, it's increased by around 15%."
北京的自行车销售者说“根据我们销售点的记录，今年的销售额非常令人满意。更准确地说，销售额增加了约15%。”
But travelling by bike has its hazards as cars sometimes use the bicycle paths for driving. There's also the risk of getting your bike stolen as there aren't adequate places to lock them up.
但是骑自行车也有危险，因为汽车有时行驶在自行车道。而且由于没有足够的地方锁车，还要担心自行车被偷。
Beijing resident said "I've lost three bicycles. All of them were stolen when I parked them on the side of the street. So now I keep my new bicycle at home and only use it occasionally. And usually I just ride this old, bad-looking one, so it won't be stolen."
北京居民说“我已经丢了3辆单车。都是我停在路边时被偷的。所以现在我把新单车放在家里，只是偶尔用一下。通常我是骑这辆旧的，难看的单车，所以不会被偷。”
