BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Animated American adventure comedy "The Croods: A New Age" has seen its total China box office collections cross the 300 million yuan (about 46 million U.S. dollars) mark after generating more than 60 million yuan in the past seven days through Sunday.
Released on Nov. 27, the first day of the year-end movie season ending Dec. 31, the film is currently the top earner on China's year-end box office chart, showed figures compiled by movie-ticketing and film data platform Maoyan as of Monday morning.
"The Croods: A New Age" is a sequel to the 2013 animated blockbuster "The Croods" that earned more than 300 million yuan at China's box office.
China's weekly box office collection from Dec. 7 to 13 stood at more than 570 million yuan, with "The Croods: A New Age" contributing around 10 percent and the weekly box office champion --
Chinese comedy "Bath Buddy" accounting for roughly one third, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.
Based on more than 80,000 reviews, "The Croods: A New Age" currently boasts a rating of 8.2 out of 10 on review platform Douban.
