Unit 7. Part 1. Job interview.

Dialogue 1.

W: Excuse me? I am here for the interview.

M: Glad to meet you. I am Paul. Have a seat please.

W: Thanks. And I am Maggie. I’d like to apply for the job as a secretary.

M: Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

W: OK.

Dialogue 2.

W: Please have a seat.

M: Thank you. And this is my resume.

W: Why do you want to leave your current position and come to apply for this job?

M: Well, it doesn’t fit me. And I don’t think I have a promising future. So I decided to quit it.

W: You’d better tell me more about your experience.

M: All right. I worked as an installment engineer with a big multi-national company for 3 years.

W: What are you particularly good at?

M: I am best at computer programming.

W: We will inform you of the result within one week.

M: Thanks. I am looking forward to that.

Dialogue 3.

W: Mr. Smith, may I know your major?

M: Yes, I majored in finance and I minored in English, and I graduated from Peking University.

W: Thanks. Looking through your resume I know you want to work in the department of the international account settlement.

M: Yes.

W: Where do you see yourself 3 years from now?

M: I see myself in a management position.

W: OK. And please tell us your strong points.

M: I am a responsible, self motivated and reliable person with the strong will.

Dialogue 4.

W: Do you have any other questions?

M: Yes, could you please let me know something about my salary?

W: OK. The salary will be deposited into the Bank of China on the fifth of every month. And there is no bonus for you in the first year, but after that you will get a bonus once a year.

M: Thanks. And could you tell me if you have apartments or dormitories for the employees?

W: There are no apartments or dormitories available.

M: May I ask about vacations and sick leave?

W: Of course. Employees receive 15 days off per year, and earn one day of sick leave per month.

M: And how about the company benefits?

W: Yes, we have excellent benefits package including health and unemployment insurance.

M: Thank you very much.
