Unit 5. Part 3. Television.

Dialogue 1.

W: Shall we switch to another channel?

M: I don’t think there is anything worth watching at this moment. Let me finish this special.

W: Let me look in the TV guide. There is a quiz show going on channel 14, try it.

M: OK. Oh, it’s over now.

W: Here, pass me the remote control. I will just flip around them. See what else is on.

Dialogue 2.

Brown: What’s your favorite TV program in China, Miss. John?

John: I like legal report very much.

Brown: What kind of program is it?

John: It’s about law. It’s very instructive. What’s your favorite TV program, Mrs. Brown?

Brown: I like round the world program. It’s very informative and opens my eyes.

John: That’s right. We can learn a lot from good TV programs.

Dialogue 3.

W: What do you do for news?

M: I read the newspaper. That’s much better than cable TV.

W: I don’t agree. I think it’s better in some ways. But cnn is great. With cnn you have fast news coverage and images too, and you can watch it while you are eating breakfast.

M: Yes, I have watched cnn before, but I still like the newspaper better.

W: Larry King Live was my favorite talk show. I think shows like his are excellent ways to hear different opinions about world events.

M: So maybe I will get cable hooked up, just to watch cnn, I mean.
