would rather类虚拟语气

would rather的意思是“宁愿”“希望”——既然是“希望”，就说明那还不是事实，所以当后接句子的时候，句子的谓语通常要用虚拟语气，其用法及结构形式如下：

1. would rather表示希望

若从句内容是涉及的是对现在或将来情况的希望，则从句谓语用一般过去时。如：

I’d rather you went home now. 我希望你现在就回家。

Tomorrow’s difficult. I’d rather yon came next weekend. 明天有困难，我希望你下周末来。

2. would rather表示遗憾

若从句内容是涉及的是对过去已发生情况表示遗憾或后悔，则从句谓语用过去完成时。如：

I’d rather he hadn’t told me about it. 我宁愿他没告诉我这事。

I’d rather I had gone to the theatre last night. 我倒希望我昨晚我去了剧院看戏。

若语境明确，有时从句的谓语有时可以省略与前面相同的部分。如：

You always go without me and l’d rather you didn’t. 你总是不带我去，我可不愿意你这样。

Katie went by car and I’d rather she hadn’t. 凯蒂是坐汽车去的，我宁愿地不坐汽车去。

第一句中的didn’t可视为didn’t go without me的省略，第二句中的hadn’t可视为hadn’t gone by car的省略。
