形容词与定冠词连用表示类别的用法

定冠词可以与某些形容词连用，表示一类人或一类事物。如：

the sick 病人        the old 老人         the young 年轻人

the dumb 哑巴     the deaf 聋子       the dead 死者

注意，这类用法通常表示复数概念。如：

但是，如果是表示抽象概念，则表示单数意义，如the good(善良)，the true(真实)，the right(正义)等。如：
