2. 用于陈述句

shall用于陈述句，主要表示强调，根据需要可用于各种人称，具体用法如下：

(1) 表示意志或决心，即表示说话人必须使某事发生的意志或决心。如：

They shall not pass! 不会让他们通过的!

We shall never leave you, whatever happens. 不管发生什么事情，我们永远也不会离开你。

(2) 表示告诫或命令，即告诫或命令某人做某事。如：

When he comes in nobody shall say a word. 他进来的时候，谁也不许说话。

A record shall be kept of the number of students attending each class. 每次上课的学生人数均应予以记录。

(3) 表示答应或许诺，即答应或许诺听话人某事一定会发生。如：

I shall be there, I promise you. 我会在那里的，我向你保证。

You shall have a new dress for your birthday. 你过生日会得到一件新连衣裙。

You shall receive all the money that is owed to you. 欠你的钱你都会拿到了。

(4) 表示威胁或恫吓，即威胁或恫吓某事肯定会发生。如：

You shall pay for this. 你要为此付出代价的。

He shall answer for his misdeeds. 他应当为他的错误行为负责。

(5) 表示责任或规定。注意，这是shall用作情态可能命题的一个考点，它主要表示根据条例、规章、制度、约定、协议、合同等应尽的责任或遵守规定，此时主要用于第三人称。如：

the expert’s fee shall be borne by the tenant. 专家费要由承租人负担。

All payments shall be made in cash.  所有款项都必须以现金支付。

The prisoner shall serve 20 years in jail. 罪犯必须在监狱服刑20年。

Persons under 18 shall not be employed in night work. 不满18岁的人不得雇佣干夜间工作。
