1.addict vt. 使 ... 耽溺，使 ... 上瘾

如：There are no lengths to which an addict will not go to obtain his drug. 
瘾君子为了得到毒品什麽事都做得出来。

He was addicted to cocaine. 
他吸可卡因上瘾

2.flattery n. 谄媚，阿谀，巴结

如：I find his flattery odious. 
我觉得他的谀词十分讨厌。

Cut out the soft soap; flattery will get you nowhere! 
别花言巧语了，吹捧是不会使你捞到好处的。

3.linger vt. 消磨，无所事事

如：He lingered outside the school after everybody else had gone home. 
别人回家后，他仍在学校外面徘徊。

The beautiful melody is lingering in my mind. 
美妙的音乐在我心中回荡。

4.Compliment vt. 称赞，恭维

如：She gave a coy smile when he paid her a compliment. 
他恭维她时，她忸怩作态地笑了笑。

He complimented her on her new dress without even looking at it. 
他连看都没看一眼，就称颂她的新衣服。
