影片对白

Jack: Okay, okay. There's no shortage of future slogans. Phil, what have you got?

Phil: Well, um, same store sales are up 8.4% this quarter which is just... amazing. And the increase extends across every demographic. It's "tweens," heavy users, minivan dads, even seniors. So, clearly, the Big One is not only a big hit, it is quickly becoming the flagship of our brand.

Dave: Which we'll be building on, both in the upcoming second half of our campaign and in merchandising.

Jack: Terrific. Don, what about those Little Big Ones?

Don: Well, uh, last week, you know, we did a pretty extensive focus group with some of the kids from Martin Luther King Elementary.

Jack: Yeah?

Don: And it went great. Tested 91% in the top three boxes. They loved 'em.

Jack: What is it now, eight to a bag?

Don: No, no, no. You're thinking about theItty Bittys.

Jack: Oh.

Don: No, no. We figure three Little Big Ones for each kid's meal is gonna work out about right. But we wanna do a little more testing on that as well.

Jack: How about Disney?

Don: No word yet.

Dave: Also, the PBS deal doesn't seem to be happening. Uh, apparently Burger King and McDonald's have the Teletubbies alllocked up.

Jack: Fuck 'em.

Don: That's wonderful.

Man: Yeah? You like that? That's the Barbecue Big One.

Don: Wow. Tastes like it's right off the grill.

Man: You don't think it needs… like liquid smoke or any other kind of flavorings?

Don: No. No, no, no. I think it's perfect. Let's test that.

Man: Okay. Try this one.

Don: I don't know.

Man: Yeah. These Caribbean seasonings are kind of tricky.

Don: We're calling 'em Calypso Chicken Tenders. Yeah. I think people are gonna have an expectation for, uh maybe a touch of lime?

Man: Oh, lime? Lime's easy. I just held back on the terpinoline on this to keep the flavorings subtle. But I can always go back and add more.

Don: Yeah. Why don't you try that?

Man: I'll keep working on it.

文化面面观

Teletubbies:明星娃娃“天线宝宝”

The biggest phenomenon to hit children's television since the advent of Barney, the Teletubbies were created by producers Anne Wood and Andy Davenport, and made their televised debut on the BBC on March 30, 1997. Featuring the characters Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po, the program was created in response to physical, social, and cognitive needs of infants and toddlers, although the show's surreal flavor, colorful imagery and hypnotic pacing also found favor among stoned twenty somethings as well. An immediate sensation in its native Britain, Teletubbies was also a ratings smash in the US as well, although Tinky Winky became the center of a media controversy in 1999 when Christian leader Jerry Falwell suggested the character was secretly gay. No, really. Despite the flap, the Teletubbies marketing machine remained in overdrive, and in addition to the usual toys and apparel there were also several officially-licensed recordings, among them 1999's Say Eh-Oh and Nursery Rhymes and Other Fun Songs!. Bedtime and Playtime Stories was issued a year later. (Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide)

影片简介

Fast food nation 快餐帝国

Inspired by author Eric Schlosser's New York Times best-seller of the same name, director Richard Linklater's ensemble drama examines the health issues and social consequences of America's love affair with fast food and features an all-star cast that includes Greg Kinnear, Ethan Hawke, Kris Kristofferson, Patricia Arquette, and Luis Guzman. Mickey's is the most popular fast-food chain in America, and The Big One is the top-selling burger that put them on the map. When the higher-ups at Mickey's corporate offices learn that the frozen meat patties used to make the wildly popular burger have somehow been tainted with contaminated meat, they send marketing executive Don Henderson (Kinnear) on an urgent mission to ensure quality control and find out precisely how their product became compromised. It's a long way from the Southern California boardroom to the immigrant slaughterhouses, though, and the further Henderson works his way through the bustling feedlots and toward the ubiquitous restaurant sites that have become a staple of modern culture, the more he begins to realize just how dangerous convenience can become when it leads to blissfully ignorant complacency.
